Hello, I trust you are well today. My name is Dee Ware and I am your Wellness Mentor. An explant from Chicago, Kalamazoo is my home. I graduated from Kalamazoo Central and attended Davenport College. My husband of almost 20 years is James Ware. Together we are the parents/covenant parents of seven children and Papa and Grandma Dee to a whole bunch of grandbabies. My wellness journey began about three years ago with a goal to look like Angela Bassett, or come as close as I could. After signing on with Plateboys, LLC; my trainer, Terrell Alexander informed me-with raised eyebrow- that achieving an "Angela Bassett" look was definitely doable but would require work. He asked if I was ready to work. Of course I agreed, what did I know of what it would really take? I've gone on to compete in two powerlifting contests (setting a state record in one) and recently, a wellness competition. I medaled in all three contests. Medals and records are nice, but what has lasted is the process. The process served as a catalyst for a shift in my spirit and mindset that has allowed me to make sustainable and expanding change effecting my entire life, not just my physical appearance.
